Rundale Palace, this architectural masterpiece of art, which up to now had been hidden from so many in Europe, was built as a summer residence by the Duke of Kurzeme, Ernst Johann Biron. During this excursion you will be introduced to the Palace, its splendid park of roses, and the virgin scenery of the countryside around it, which is still retained as part of the architect’s initial vision —in the centre the Palace stands above everything around it as the symbol of ruler’s mightiness, from which all avenues apparently lead away into the endless wilderness.
